Microneedling
An effective skin rejuvenation treatment that stimulates collagen production for a variety of cosmetic and skin health benefits.
What Is Microneedling?
Microneedling, also called collagen induction therapy, is a skin rejuvenation technique that works by stimulating collagen in the skin. Collagen is a vital protein for skin health, which helps the skin remain hydrated and youthful. With an increase in collagen in the skin, you can enjoy a range of cosmetic benefits.
Microneedling stimulates collagen production by creating tiny punctures in the skin. This triggers a healing response from the body, which will result in collagen being created. Since the wounds in the skin are small, they are healed quickly without any lasting side effects. Then, the excess collagen is used to rejuvenate the skin in the treatment area, addressing cosmetic concerns that include:
- Wrinkles and lines
- Loose or sagging skin
- Uneven skin tone or texture
- Hyperpigmentation and other discoloration
- Stretch marks and acne scars
At Goodman Dermatology, we are proud to offer traditional microneedling as well as Infini RF Microneedling.
Microneedling FAQs
The cost of your microneedling treatment will vary depending on the microneedling technique used. At Goodman Dermatology, we understand that each patient is entirely unique. With different skin types, cosmetic features and treatment needs, each patient deserves a personalized treatment that is designed with them in mind. For these reasons, we are not able to provide an exact cost for treatment until we have the opportunity to assess your treatment goals and develop a personalized treatment plan.
During your consultation, we will discuss your needs and treatment goals in order to determine this treatment plan and inform you of the cost of your microneedling treatment. To make our treatments more affordable for our patients, we are proud to offer financing options through CareCredit®.
The microneedling treatment begins with the application of a topical numbing gel, which helps to minimize any discomfort during treatment. As treatment begins, a handheld microneedling device will be used to create small wounds in the skin’s surface. This process is made to be quite tolerable thanks to the topical numbing agent. The microneedling treatment takes about 30 minutes to complete.
After microneedling, you may experience redness, irritation, or swelling in the treatment area. However, these side effects typically fade within a few days.
There is no downtime or recovery period necessary after microneedling. In fact, most patients choose to return to work and all other activities immediately following your appointment.
The results from microneedling will develop gradually in the weeks and months following your treatment. As collagen is created in the body, it will be used to rejuvenate and restore the skin. These results will improve with additional treatment sessions, which are often recommended for patients with specific treatment goals. During your consultation, we’ll discuss your cosmetic goals in order to determine the number of microneedling treatments that will be best for you.
