About Dr. Hammel
Dr. Josh Hammel, a native of Marietta, Ga., completed his undergraduate degree in biomedical engineering at the Georgia Institute of Technology, going on to attain his medical degree from Emory University School of Medicine. He trained for two years in plastic and reconstructive surgery in Springfield, IL before a two-year dermatology research fellowship at Northwestern University in Chicago. Dr. Hammel completed his dermatology residency at the University of Iowa, and went on to train in Mohs Micrographic Surgery and Cutaneous Oncology at University of Texas Medical Branch in Houston and Galveston, Texas.
Dr. Hammel practiced Mohs surgery for more than three years in Dunwoody, Ga., prior to coming on staff with Goodman Dermatology as our Mohs surgery specialist and cutaneous oncologist. Dr. Hammel holds board certifications in both dermatology and Mohs surgery, and is a fellow of the American Academy of Dermatology.
Dr. Hammel is unique in having formal training in both plastic surgery and Mohs micrographic surgery, in addition to an extensive dermatology and dermatological surgery research background, and is completely familiar and skilled in all types of complex skin cancer removal and reconstruction. He is passionate about providing exemplary, up-to-date care for all your skin cancer and dermatological surgery needs.
