Laser Scar Revision
A versatile treatment that can be used on many areas of the body and for many types of scars.
What Is Laser Scar Revision?
Laser scar revision is an advanced laser resurfacing technique that can help patients reduce the appearance of scars to achieve smoother, clearer skin. Using laser technology, we can target both pigmentation and textural concerns. Goodman Dermatology typically uses IPL treatments for laser scar revision, but we also specialize in laser skin resurfacing for additional benefits. Using these technologies, we can exfoliate the skin and reduce the discoloration of scars to improve the skin’s appearance. Plus, these treatments stimulate collagen production in the skin, which will lead to further long-term cosmetic benefits.
Laser scar revision is a versatile treatment that can be used on many areas of the body and for many types of scars. We offer laser treatment for surgical scars and acne scars, as well as laser treatment for scars on legs, arms, and other parts of the body.
Laser Scar Revision FAQs
The cost of your laser scar revision will vary depending on the extent of treatment necessary. At Goodman Dermatology, we understand that each patient is entirely unique. With different skin types, cosmetic features and treatment needs, each patient deserves a personalized treatment that is designed with them in mind. For these reasons, we are not able to provide an exact cost for treatment until we have the opportunity to assess your treatment goals and develop a personalized treatment plan.
During your consultation, we will discuss your needs and treatment goals in order to determine this treatment plan and inform you of your laser scar revision cost or your laser treatment for acne scars cost. To make our treatments more affordable for our patients, we are proud to offer financing options through CareCredit®.
Your laser scar revision treatment will be customized based on your skin type, the part of the body being treated, and the condition of your scar. We typically provide a topical numbing agent prior to treatment to help make the treatment process more comfortable. During treatment, a handheld laser device will be used to deliver laser energy to the desired treatment area. You may feel a warm, tingling, or stinging sensation during this process. Laser scar revision usually takes less than 30 minutes to perform, but the size of the scar being treated will determine the length of treatment.
After laser scar revision, you may experience some redness, sensitivity, or swelling in the treatment area. These side effects typically resolve within a few days.
There is no significant downtime or recovery period necessary after laser scar revision. However, depending on the extent of the side effects you experience, you may need to take special care to protect the skin from irritants such as excessive sun exposure following your treatment.
The results from laser scar revision will develop gradually in the weeks and months following treatment, and will improve as collagen is created and implemented into the skin. Results will also improve with additional treatment sessions, which are often recommended for laser scar revision. During your consultation, we will discuss how many treatments are recommended for best results. After your desired results are achieved, they will be permanent.
