Raquel Ludwig is a native of Indiana. She received her Bachelor of Arts degree from Purdue University followed by a Master of Public Health degree from the University of Illinois at Chicago. After working in public health research for several years, she attended Emory University School of Medicine, where she attained a Master of Medical Science degree. Raquel has been practicing medicine since 2011, and Dermatology since 2013.

Raquel strives to provide the highest quality in dermatological care. She accomplishes this by integrating her patients’ values with the best available medical research. She has experience in internal medicine, gynecology, and pediatrics. This strong foundation has been particularly helpful in treating a variety of skin conditions in patients of all ages. Her experience in emergency medicine taught her how to communicate with patients during times of stress. “Attaining excellent outcomes is great. But, doing it with a warm, holistic approach is even better.”

Raquel has undergone formalized training in dermoscopy, a non-invasive method of examining skin lesions which has been shown to improve diagnostic accuracy for skin cancer. Raquel also participates in a monthly scientific journal club where dermatologists and medical residents discuss the latest research in dermatology.

Raquel has co-authored several scientific publications in peer-reviewed journals. She has also been a speaker at national conventions held by the Centers for Disease Control and American Public Health Association. Raquel is highly involved with Emory University School of Medicine PA program, serving as a guest lecturer, student mentor, and preceptor for their students.

In her free time, Raquel enjoys pilates and outdoor activities with her family such as cycling, camping, and stand up paddle boarding. In her younger days, she enjoyed rappelling off cliffs, skydiving, white-water rafting, and cave-exploring (spelunking). Raquel and her family have fallen in love with Georgia, and they have planted strong roots in the community.
